Embedded Software Engineering Intern
@ LMUTech, NASTP, Kharian.
About The Role:
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Embedded Software Engineer Intern to join our team. You’ll work alongside experienced embedded engineers on real-world products—writing code that runs on microcontrollers, debugging hardware-software integration, and contributing to production systems. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how software interacts with hardware in professional embedded systems development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and debug embedded software in C (and optionally C++) for microcontrollers.
- Write peripheral drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADC, and other interfaces.
- Implement firmware features based on product requirements and hardware specifications.
- Read schematics and component datasheets to understand hardware behavior.
- Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Completed coursework in embedded systems, microcontrollers, digital logic, or similar.
- Programming: Proficiency in C (C++ is a plus).
- Microcontrollers: Familiarity with at least one microcontroller family (e.g., STM32, Arduino/AVR, PIC, MSP430, NXP, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi Pico/RP2040).
- Basic Electronics: Understanding of digital and analog fundamentals; ability to read simple schematics.
- Communication Protocols: Basic knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, or similar interfaces.
- Debugging: Familiarity with debugging concepts; experience with oscilloscopes or logic analyzers is a plus.
- Version Control: Basic experience with Git.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar) from coursework or personal projects.
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M architecture (STM32, NXP, Nordic, etc.).
- Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle) or reading complex schematics.
- Knowledge of wireless protocols (Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa).
- Experience with Python for scripting, automation, or test tools.
- Personal embedded projects (GitHub link or portfolio).
- Participation in student robotics, Formula SAE, or similar hands-on engineering teams.
What You Will Gain
- Hands-on experience with professional embedded development workflows.
- Mentorship from experienced embedded engineers.
- Exposure to the full product lifecycle—from prototype to production.
- Access to lab equipment and development boards.
- Portfolio-worthy projects for your career.
- Monthly stipend.
- Daily free meal.
